Civil Engineer Corps
United States Naval Reserve

A native of Rapid City, South Dakota, Lieutenant Junior Grade Hendricks received a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in December 1990. He received a Masters of Science in Measurement and Controls Engineering from Idaho State University in May 1999. He has been employed as a project/plant engineer with Amoco Chemicals Company in Houston, TX, MidAmerican Energy Corporation in Sioux City, IA, and Monsanto Chemical Company in Soda Springs, ID. He is certified as an Engineer-In-Training in the state of South Dakota.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Hendricks enlisted in the Naval Reserve with NMCB15 Det 0615 in Sioux City, Iowa in October 1994 as an Engineering Aide Third Class. He transferred to NMCB18 Det 0918 in Pocatello, Idaho in December 1995 due to a civilian job transfer. He received a Direct Commission in May 1996 as an Ensign in the Civil Engineer Corps with NMCB18. He attended Direct Commission Officer Indoctrination school in Pennsacola, Florida, and Reserve Officer Basic and Construction Battalion Operations in Pt. Hueneme, California. He completed his Reserve Civil Engineer Junior Officer Qualifications in March 1999.

While with NMCB18 Lieutenant Junior Grade Hendricks served as Detachment 0918 Assistant Officer in Charge and the Battalion Ordnance Officer. He was voluntarily recalled to active duty in June 1999 and attended Civil Engineer Corps Officer School in Port Hueneme, California. He then reported to OICC Marianas as the Assistant Resident Officer In Charge of Construction in September 1999.

LTJG Hendricks' military awards and decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Volunteer Service Medal, Expert Rifle Medal, and the Expert Pistol Medal. He is qualified as a Seabee Combat Warfare Officer.

He is married to the former Kelly Denise Caron of Lead, South Dakota. They have one son; Jonathan James born Nov 27, 1988, and one daughter; Jordan Christine born Sept 15, 1994.

Extra Activities

The Marianas Division boasts many activities including a Color Guard, Armed and Unarmed Drill Team, and a Rifle Team.
